50-Page Report to 1-Page Brief in 2 Minutes

You get a 50-page analyst report. You need to brief the board in 10 minutes. Here is a 2-minute workflow that turns any document into a structured executive brief.

The Problem

A 50-page analyst report lands in your inbox. A regulatory filing. A competitor's annual report. You need the key points in 10 minutes for a board meeting, a strategy call, or your own decision-making.

You skim for 45 minutes. You miss something on page 37. You summarize from memory. Your summary is half the story.

The Fix

  1. Download the PDF.
  2. Upload it to Claude.ai (drag and drop). Free accounts handle up to 30 pages per file. Paid accounts handle 100+. ChatGPT and Gemini also work.
  3. Paste this prompt:
Copy-paste prompt
"Read this document. Create a 1-page executive brief with: (1) the 3 most important findings, (2) what changed compared to the previous period, (3) what this means for our business specifically, (4) one recommended action. Keep it under 300 words. Use bullet points, not paragraphs."
What you get

A structured brief you can forward to your board, print for a meeting, or use as your own talking points. In 2 minutes instead of 45. Every key finding captured, nothing buried on page 37.

The one line that makes this actually useful

The prompt says "what this means for our business specifically." Without that line, you get a generic summary. The AI tells you what the document says. You already know that. You read the executive summary.

With that line, you get analysis. The AI connects the document to your context and flags what matters to you.

Make it even better: add one sentence about your company. "We are a EUR 200M industrial supplier competing with [X]." The brief becomes specific to your competitive position.

Works for

  • Analyst reports and earnings transcripts
  • Regulatory filings (annual reports, 10-Ks, prospectuses)
  • Competitor press releases and strategy documents
  • Internal reports that nobody reads past page 3
  • Due diligence packages

One report per day × 40 minutes saved
= 13 hours per month
That is a full working day and a half, every month, just by reading smarter.
